Companies looking for help in dealing with threats from asbestos will be given training – for free. ClearView Safety, part of the Towcester based 4See Group, is offering companies completely free sessions to help a national drive to improve the UK’s awareness of the issues of managing and working in premises containing asbestos.

ClearView Safety will be running two half-day courses at their headquarters at Pury Hill Business Park. Companies interested can register now, with the courses scheduled to take place on the 18 October.
Backed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association (UKATA), there will be a total of 30 places available on a first come, first served basis. Discounts on further training are being offered
to those who book a free place or respond to emails.
ClearView Safety believes the courses will appeal to a wide variety of interests, including construction workers, caretakers and property managers.

Jon Hughes, Commercial Manager of ClearView Safety, said: “This is a very worthwhile scheme by the HSE and UKATA to help improve knowledge of what has been dubbed the ‘silent killer’. Training providers have pledged to offer training for free with the hope that more than 4000 hours of training and 1000 courses will be offered around the UK.
“We at ClearView Safety are delighted to play our part in this. It is not often that businesses are offered something for nothing but we believe these courses will offer people important information to improve safety when working in premises that may contain asbestos.”

Companies in the Towcester, Northampton and Milton Keynes area can apply for the free training by contacting ClearView Safety on 0844 335 0758 or through the website at www.clearviewsafety.com

We are delighted to announce that we have just launched 2 completely new websites for ClearView Safety and 4See Risk Management, bringing a fresh and dynamic look to both.

The start point for the new designs was our clients. We have taken a fresh look at the way our websites have been used in the past and changed the structure to reflect this and make things easier to find.

Now our services, courses and other information is grouped around either sectors, so that clients can find what they need in one place or by subject area to enable greater choice if the user is not aware of what they need specifically.

One very exciting development is the addition of an online purchasing facility, which will enable clients to select and pay for courses and services direct.

The new sites also link in services from Burcote Consultancy, our environmental arm, and our most recent addition O’Sullivan Asbestos. This enables us to bring together all the businesses within the 4See Group from any one of the 4 websites.

New websites for both O’Sullivan Asbestos and Burcote Consultancy will follow later in the year, but please take a look at these new sites, as we would love to get your feedback.

The sites can be found at:

On the 1st April 2009, the Health and Safety Executive published a guidance document for First Aid training providers on the forthcoming changes to First Aid training.

The new changes will come in to effect from the 1st October 2009 and will be as follows:

HSE First Aid at Work (FAW)
This will change from a four to a three day course that will be valid for three years. However it is strongly recommended that an annual refresher course is completed to update the skills of the first aider.

HSE FAW Requalification
This will remain as a two day course.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
This is a one day course that is valid for three years.
For regulatory purposes, a delegate who successfully completes an EFAW course will be able to act as a first aider in the workplace.

Appointed Persons
The role of the appointed person will remain, and employers will still be able to send appointed persons on basic first aid training. Some employers may choose instead to send individuals on EFAW courses, in which case they would become first aiders in regulatory terms.

First Aid Skills Update
This is a half day (3 hour) course that will update the skills of qualified first aiders. There is no legal requirement for first aiders to complete this course, however the HSE strongly recommend that annual refreshers are completed.

If you would like any more information about the forthcoming changes, or would like to arrange a booking, please call us on 0844 335 0758.
